OptiFrac Chemical Services (a division of Mud Master Drilling Fluid Services Ltd.) was established in 2009 as an independent Canadian chemical provider. We focus on providing unique chemistry to the stimulation, production and coiled tubing sectors of our market with an emphasis on solid product performance, serviced by our collective and relevant oilfield experience. We pride ourselves on our effort to provide greener and safer chemistry to the market.

President

Robert Nieuwesteeg

Rob holds a bachelor’s degree from Carleton University. He has over 18 years of experience in the Western Canadian energy sector, beginning with MI Drilling Fluids as a field service engineer. From there, Rob continued his drilling fluid career with Reef Mud, Drilling Specialties and Halliburton. In 1998, Rob joined Mud Master Drilling Fluids as a technical sales rep in Calgary. Rob’s experience in the field and operations background helped to grow Mud Master over the next few years. In 2003, Rob became a partner in Mud Master. Today Rob serves as President of Mud Master and its completions/production chemical division OptiFrac. Rob is involved in all aspects of the company; with his focus being sales and business development.

Vice President

Dean Webster P. Eng.

Dean is a Professional Engineer with thirty years of experience in the oil and gas, environmental, and transportation industries. He brings a wealth of management experience to the company. Previously, Dean was Senior Vice President for a public oilfield service company that provided a diverse range of products and services, including drilling and service rigs, oilfield rentals, down hole tools, lease construction, environmental remediation and safety services. Prior to that, he held various management positions with a private company providing oilfield, environmental and transportation services, most recently on the company’s executive team as Vice President, Marketing and Business Development. Dean also worked for the Energy Resources Conservation Board (now Alberta Energy Regulator) as a reservoir and environmental engineer.

Chief Financial Officer

Jerry Nieuwesteeg

Jerry has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree with a major in finance, from the University of Waterloo. He has over 30 years of experience in various areas of the oil and gas industry. Jerry joined Mud Master in 2010 and is using the skills he has acquired from previous positions to effectively manage the corporate financial operations of Mud Master. Over the course of his career, Jerry has spent 4 years managing various crude oil blending facilities, 22 years in all aspects of crude oil marketing/trading and 5 years in corporate tax compliance with various companies.

Technical Sales

Cam Obrigewitsch

Cameron holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Regina and has 15 years of varied experience in the Western Canadian energy sector. Previously, Cameron was the Operations Manager for a private oil and gas company where he was responsible for all field operations and production management. Prior to that he held various engineering roles ranging from Facilities Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling Engineering and Technical Sales. Cameron is focused on sales and utilizes his broad experience to provide technical support to both Mud Master and OptiFrac clients.

Technical Sales

Jim Dillon

Jim has over 12 years experience in sales and service in the water and sewer industry and 9 years experience in the industrial cleaning business, operating pressure trucks and other equipment using a wide variety of chemicals, for both down hole and surface applications.

Jim is focused on Technical Sales where his 21 years of practical experience are a great asset in building customer relationships and the growth of our business.

Warehouse Supervisor

Ken Kapeller

Ken brings over 30 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. He began his career working in the service rig sector and moved into isolation tools as a Field Superintendent/Senior Technician both in Canada and overseas. Following that, Ken moved into management positions at a pipeline company doing pipeline and facility construction and turnarounds and for a safety service company which sold and maintained various safety equipment.

Ken’s years of experience and industry knowledge are instrumental in his role with OptiFrac as the Warehouse Supervisor at our Grande Prairie warehouse.
